Our Philosophy

Our training program was developed with an understanding and realization that there was a tangible need for a better way of training new gun owners and those wishing to have more advanced training than what we were witnessing being offered by other firearm training programs. Because of this, we have developed our training program into two separate segments, classroom and range training. Our classroom segment consists of two separate options, basic or advanced. The classroom segment of your choice is held at different times, dates and locations from the range training segment.

As mentioned, our first segment is in a classroom environment. In our basic classroom training we focus on the key elements of basic safety, terminology, personal protection equipment, and handling of firearms. In our advanced classroom training we get into specific details of handling, aiming, breath control, competition and self-defense shooting of firearms. The second segment, range training, is conducted at a range where we focus on what you have been taught in the classroom session. For advanced firearms handlers, we often skip the classroom session and go directly to the range training segment.

For those completing the basic classroom training session, I provide the ammunition and firearms necessary for your first hands on range training session. For all other training, you are required to provide your own firearm and ammunition. I only allow a maximum of two individuals at a time to take any range training sessions. I also offer advanced range training sessions which are customized to your individual needs as you have expressed. Again, “NO” outside visitors are allowed at any of the range training sessions due to distractions and safety concerns. Once again, for your comfort and peace of mind, I never train females without my wife, or one of my female assistants being in attendance.

Our Story

Our training emphasis is on SAFETY FIRST and FOREMOST, NOT on how many rounds are fired down range like most other training programs offer. I find that firing 50 rounds of ammunition correctly while building proper muscle memory far outweighs firing 300 rounds improperly which often times builds the wrong muscle memory that is near impossible to correct entirely.

Enjoying your Second Amendment RIGHT to own a firearm comes with the personal responsibility to handle any firearm consistently in a safe manner. Throughout our experiences at shooting ranges we have seen and been witness to unsafe firearms handling where we have had loaded firearms aimed at us and the person doing so had absolutely no knowledge of their wrongdoing. Your responsibility in this area comes through your knowledge on how to handle firearms safely and consistently taught and learned in our sessions.

Of the many questions we are asked by individuals seeking information on our training programs offered is “how many rounds of ammunition do we need for your training?” This is NOT our focus and will never be our focus. Shooting 500 rounds down range at a target incorrectly will never bring satisfaction to you or us. We focus on shooting correctly and consistently, not on quantity.

However, because of the volume of shooting I currently do, I have changed to using a Dillon 650 XL reloading press. I still love my RCBS for reloading rifle ammunition but use my Dillon 650 XL for my pistol ammunition. I also teach reloading by appointment only (see fee schedules for details.)
