CALIFORNIA GUN LAWS BEGIN WITH THE GUN OWNERS

Could it be that the problem with California gun laws begins with the gun owners in California? Looking at the web-site https://www.thoughtco.com/gun-owners-percentage-of-state-populations-3325153 we find that as of April 28, 2017 the percentage of gun owners in California is estimated to be 21.3% of the total population. Doing a GOOGLE search I find posted at this web-site http://worldpopulationreview.com/states/california-population/ the current estimate for California’s population in 2018 at 39.78 million. Simple math indicates an estimated gun ownership population of 8,472,465 in California. That’s a lot of gun owners.

Taking this a bit further, I find at the web-site http://www.sos.ca.gov/administration/news-releases-and-advisories/2012-news-releases-and-advisories/db12-113/ that there is an estimated 18.2 million registered voters in California. Of these, 13.2 million voted in the last presidential election. So what is my point? My point is this, having 8.4 million gun owners in California, (assuming the estimate does not include minors under the voting age), gun owners in our state account for 63.6 % of the total number of people that voted in California in the last presidential election. With a number this large, am I the only one that finds it is amazing that we have the gun laws in California that we do.

I can only assume that we have a majority of gun owners in California that are either not registered to vote or simply don’t bother to vote. Therefore, when we look at the gun laws in California, and blame our California government officials for the never-ceasing erosion of our Second Amendment rights, we actually should be looking at these silent gun owners. It is my belief that it’s the lack of interest, or complacency of these silent gun owners in California that help our state government continue placing California on the map to becoming the first state in America to have TOTAL gun confiscation.
